Ford Transit Connect: 2019 Motor Trend Car of the Year Contender • 6 November 2018

"At $37,010, this van in passenger form is a joke," Zach Gale said. "The seats are difficult to fold down and don't really fall flat, and the infotainment screen isn't particularly large. But hey, at least it costs as much as a nicely equipped Chrysler Pacifica ."

2019 Ford Transit Connect Cargo Van First Look • 6 March 2018

Stoehr claims insurance rates should drop due to a suite of new driver-assist features, which is headlined by standard forward collision warning with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking with dynamic braking support. These features and side-wind mitigation are all standard. Adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane keep assist are also available. Finally, standard Ford MyKey technologies allow fleet managers to preset warnings, set speed limits, and restrict audio volume. The new Transit Connect van should hit dealerships about the same time as the wagons, during the third quarter of 2018 as a 2019 model, with only a modest price increase from 2018 levels ($24,240 to $26,765).

The Transit Connect drives as well as one of Ford's passenger cars, but offers a practical design and well-thought out load space

2014 Ford Transit Connect Titanium Wagon LWB First Test • 6 January 2015

The differences between our long-wheelbase Transit Connect Titanium Wagon and more traditional minivans are readily apparent where the rubber meets the road. Simply put, the Transit Connect is fun -- and not just for a minivan. The Ford feels sporty and light on its feet, much like the Focus it's based on. The Transit Connect's steering is quick and well-weighted, urging the driver to whip it quickly around corners. The base four-banger is up to the task, too, for the most part, only betraying the fun high up in the rev band when the torque runs out and the transmission turns a bit slushy. The EcoBoost mill helps out handily, as this Transit Connect platform is practically begging for more power. Volkswagen may have been teasing a return to the van niche that helped put it on the radar in this country, but Ford has stepped up with a fun-to-drive, good-looking, and affordable alternative. Will the Transit Connect Wagon have the success the original VW Bus did? That remains to be seen, but the Transit Connect most certainly encapsulates some of the magic that made the VW Bus such a hit in its day.

2015 Ford Transit 150, 350HD First Test • 21 November 2014

The 3.7-liter V-6 with 275 hp and 260 lb-ft is the base engine, and the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 with 310 hp and 400 lb-ft is Ford's high-end hot rod engine. Ford has also made available a 3.2-liter I-5 Power Stroke turbodiesel with 185 hp and 350 lb-ft, which can run on B20 biodiesel if desired. All the engines are mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, and all the Transits -- for now -- only come in rear-wheel-drive layouts. The 3.7-liter has improved fuel efficiency over the 4.6 V-8 by 19 percent, and the 3.5 EcoBoost is 46-percent more fuel-efficient than the big 6.8-liter V-10. Ford has entered a quick growing segment in the cargo/passenger van/wagon market and has done it the right way. It offers a massive variety of configurations to fit any need its customers might have, from a comfort-friendly passenger vehicle to heavy-duty work vehicle and everything in between. What Ford has done with the 2015 Transit will not go unnoticed by its competition, and for very good reason.
