The Cupra Leon is at its best with the range-topping 2.0-litre petrol engines, because they combine the everyday practicality and thrills you expect from a used hot hatch. We’d avoid looking at the entry-level 1.5-litre petrol and PHEV versions, because the closely related Seat Leon is available with the same engines for a lot less money. No matter the version you choose, reliability is a concern.
