In our preferred 1.4-litre guise, the Suzuki S-Cross is more expensive than its rivals but is also gutsy, efficient and well-equipped enough to still be appealing. It’s a shame that the infotainment system is so slow and the interior materials are uninspiring. If you do buy an S-Cross, we recommend sticking with the entry-level engine with the cheapest trim (Motion).

The Suzuki S-Cross is a safe and unpretentious choice in the booming family SUV sector. Its most commonly cited competitors include the Nissan Qashqai, Hyundai Tucson and Kia Sportage, but there’s also the Mazda CX-5, Volkswagen Tiguan, SEAT Ateca and the Ford Kuga. When it was launched in 2021, the Suzuki S-Cross was only available with a 129hp 1.4-litre four-cylinder mild hybrid petrol engine. H
